Through Aphrodite Books, we publish bold fiction and nonfiction by women building distinctive bodies of work. Through the Aphrodite Atelier, we partner with authors to develop and refine exceptional manuscripts for publication.

At Aphrodite, we work closely with authors to sharpen the manuscript, strengthen the storytelling, and elevate the work without sanding away the voice that made us believe in it in the first place.
Publishing is only the beginning of the relationship. We look for books with the potential to connect with readers, contribute to culture, and build enduring value for their authors. Our authors retain meaningful control over their intellectual property and participate in the long-term value their work creates.
ABOUT THE FOUNDER
Rachael Eckles is an author, publisher, attorney, and entrepreneur whose work sits at the intersection of storytelling, ideas, culture, and women's voices.
After writing her own novels, Rachael founded Aphrodite Books to create the kind of publishing experience she believed authors deserved: editorially rigorous, deeply collaborative, and built around respect for an author's voice, vision, and intellectual property.
Today, as founder of Aphrodite Media and publisher of Aphrodite Books, she works with authors to develop exceptional books and publishes bold fiction and nonfiction by women building distinctive bodies of work.
Her approach is informed by a career spanning law, public policy, entrepreneurship, and publishing—and by her belief that the most interesting work often comes from people whose lives and ideas refuse to fit neatly into a single category.
Rachael is also the author of the Celeste Donovan series and writes fiction and nonfiction exploring love, identity, culture, power, and resilience.
